KNOW YOUR BREED
Turkish Angoras have the reputation of being beautiful and sophisticated, with their wedge-shaped head, long silky coats and plumed tails. Although Angoras are usually thought of as white cats with blue or green eyes, they come in lots of different colours and patterns, including tortoiseshell, tabby and calico. They are excellent swimmers and are likely to swim every chance they get.
Diarrhoea is characterised by loose stools or frequent bowel movements. The cause of diarrhoea can be as simple as a change in diet to something as serious as an infection or cancer. It can start suddenly and can last for a very short or very long time (weeks or months) depending on the cause.
Choosing a kitten from a litter
Bringing a kitten into your home is a decision that requires much thought and consideration. However, once the decision is made, it is important to choose one which will easily adapt to your lifestyle. Just like humans all cats are different and unique in their own way, and here are a few tips to choose your perfect feline friend.
Weaning young Kittens
Weaning a kitten means transitioning the kitten from mother’s milk to solid food. Though the mother takes care of this on her own, human help could also be required just in case of orphaned kittens or if the mother doesn’t turn out enough milk. Here are some tips on weaning kittens
Urine spraying in Cats
Urine spraying is a common, although undesirable, behaviour in cats and is thought to be a form of territorial marking. Though cats of both sexes show this behaviour, it is more common in male cats which have not been neutered. The causes of urine spraying could be anxiety or stress, which could be brought about by a change in routine, environment, or even an addition or deletion of family members (people or pets moving in or moving away).
The facts of hairballs in cats
Cats are heavy groomers, and as a result of that grooming, they tend to swallow some of their fur. Normally, hair simply passes through the intestinal tract and out in the faeces. But sometimes, rather than passing through the intestinal tract, the hair is vomited instead. This is the common occurrence of your cat coughing up a hairball. While shorthaired cats can and do get hairballs, cats with long hair are especially prone to them. Hairballs can also cause problems other than vomiting like getting lodged in the intestinal tract and causing an obstruction.
